Sometimes I imagine myself holding a magical pencil—like the one I once wielded in childhood, a tool with limitless potential. It started when I asked my grandfather to draw whatever I wished: a person, a horse, a house. Watching him draw, I discovered wonder—what could be created with just a single, freshly sharpened pencil. At school, I drew everywhere: in the margins of notebooks, on the still-empty pages of the household ledger, even on the veranda door of our old farmhouse.

I still draw inspiration from nature and from the sleepy summer afternoons of my childhood—when, during my grandparents’ midday naps, I fed the chickens and sang to the sheep. My four kids motivate me—their endless thirst for knowledge—as does my husband, whose calm nature and integrity feel increasingly rare in today’s world.

I graduated from Tartu Art School and later from the graphic art department of the Estonian Academy of Arts. For years, I worked as a designer and illustrator for books and magazines. I’ve always enjoyed learning and moving forward. Design fascinates me in a broad sense—even beyond the visual world. In search of new knowledge, I am preparing to continue my studies in the field of educational science.

I hope to take my experience as a designer to a new level.

Most of the artworks in this exhibition were created just before turbulent times—a moment when it was still possible to live a completely carefree, ordinary life and believe in a future without a single crack. I wanted to bring that spark of calm into the now.

I’ve collaborated with JOIK, Viru Keskus, Magnum, Diana Arno, Tallinn Dolls, and Scandinavia Tapeedisalong, with whom I created a wallpaper collection—and hopefully, another one is coming soon.
